The region of Mantiqueira is located in the Minas Gerais side of Serra da Mantiqueira, in the southern part of the state of Minas Gerais. With a secular tradition of producing high quality coffee this region is considered as one of the most awarded regions in Brazil.

The region has around 7800 producers with 90% being small farmers, the Mantiqueira de Minas blend, which is composed of various lots from small producers was created with the goal of introducing small farmers into the specialty coffee market.
